Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS)

Organizations are adapting to use SharePoint for developing Business Portals. SharePoint Portal Server 2007 is a scalable, enterprise portal server that is built on Windows SharePoint Services. SharePoint Portal Server 2007 can be used to aggregate Windows SharePoint Services sites, information, and applications in the organization to a single portal.

MOSS can also be used as an application development framework. Apart from its traditional use as a document collaboration platform, MOSS 2007 can be used for corporate intranet portals, business applications, reporting applications, etc. Each sub site can have its own customized home page and site structure. Each Site Administrator or Editor can publish and collaboratively manage its content for personalizing his/her own program, project or department.
